Formula 1 – F1 news 2018: British Grand Prix could leave Silverstone after 2019 says Sean Bratches, Formula 1 director

THE British Grand Prix could leave it’s historic home of Silverstone in order to preserve the future of the race according to Formula One’s commercial director Sean Bratches.

Silverstone has hosted the British Grand Prix since 1948 but activated the break clause in their current contract, which was agreed with F1’s former owners, with 2019 due to be the last one under that deal.

New owners Liberty Media has said it’s committed to modernising and growing the sport but have stressed how they want to preserve the traditional circuits like Silverstone and Monza in Italy.

They have, however, announced a bid for a race in Miami and confirmed Vietnam will host a race in Hanoi from 2020 in an attempt to grow the sport.
