Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens will miss the club’s next three matches after receiving a red card against Cardiff City.

The 29-year-old will miss games against Leicester City, Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace.

Stephens was dismissed by referee Martin Atkinson for a reckless challenge on Cardiff’s Greg Cunningham.

Stephens was shown a red card during the first-half at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Brighton midfielder lunged into the tackle, just after the half-hour mark, which led to a heated exchange between both sets of players.

Atkinson was quick to brandish the card, although supporters on social media have heavily debated the decision.
