Soccer – Juventus consider January swoop for Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele

As per a report from Italian outlet the Corriere Di Torino, Juventus could reignite their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele upon the opening of the winter transfer market in January.

Complete midfielder

Dembele, 31, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest midfielders over the last couple of seasons.

His performances in the Champions League versus the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus last season only served to back the opinions of Spurs fans the world over, in that the Belgian international is a genuine world-class performer.

In fact, so impressive was Dembele during his side’s European ventures before their eventual elimination at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League’s round of 16 last season, that a number of the continent’s giants were said to have since added the Tottenham man to their summer transfer wish-lists.

Juve interest

Among the clubs rumoured to have expressed an interest in Dembele’s signature were Serie A champions Juventus.

The Bianconeri were known to have been on the lookout for midfield reinforcements during the summer, and reportedly viewed the Belgian, who’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, as an ideal affordable option.

In the end, though, a move to Turin never developed, with Dembele having remained with Spurs.

January Tottenham exit?

But, as per the aforementioned Corriere Di Torino report, Juve’s chase of Dembele may not be over just yet.

It is claimed that the Bianconeri could once again move for the 31-year-old in January.

Max Allegri’s squad is currently light in the middle of the park, with the early-season injury troubles of both Sami Khedira and Emre Can having left just Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi and Rodrigo Bentancur as midfield options for the Old Lady.

As such, Juve are expected to reignite their chase of midfield additions come the winter.

And Dembele, with his expiring contract and Champions League experience, is once again high on the wish-list of the Italians.
